Synthetic Chemistry
Small Molecules
Syngene's small molecule team designs the synthesis of complex organic molecules using reported or novel reaction schemes. We have the expertise to handle alkyl lithiums, air and moisture sensitive reagents, reactions under inert conditions, metal mediated reactions, etc. Access to various databases like Scifinder and Beilstein Crossfire help us to plan the reaction schemes, while the Available Chemicals Directory (ACD) enables us to identify the source of the starting materials. We use state-of-the-art analytical facilities to identify prepared compounds and elucidate the structure of synthesised molecules in order to ascertain their purity.
Combichem
Syngene's Combichem team has particular competence in providing custom-synthesised building blocks for the construction of combinatorial libraries. We have acquired technical capabilities in scaling up complex chemical and biochemical processes. Our cGMP accredited pilot plant (glass-lined and stainless steel chemical reactors: 20l -1500l) is fully equipped to develop intermediates and final products.
Custom Synthesis
Syngene's custom synthesis unit supplies novel boronic acids and customised molecules at a kilogram scale to several highly reputed research units in the USA and Europe. We also prepare small peptides at multi-gram scale for numerous customers. The most recent addition to our expertise is the preparation of chemical libraries using our parallel synthesis and purification systems. Novel process development for API's, intermediate synthesis, synthesis of standard impurities and reference compounds are also routinely carried out at this unit.
Synthesis of organic molecules involves diverse chemistry. Some of the reactions carried out by our custom synthesis unit at gram to kilogram scale include:
- Oxidation
- Reduction
- Reactions using LDA
- Hydrogenation
- Sulfonation
- Nitration
- Metal-mediated synthesis
In addition, Syngene conducts reactions under low temperature, inert conditions and carbonylation using triphosgene. Over the years, we have acquired experience in multi-step synthesis and the preparation of protected amino acids.
