1. MATCON delivers the complete solutions to create a flexible manufacturing system. Can you please brief out key technological aspects involved in this procedure?

Matcon provides Cone Valve Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) technology for efficient and flexible handling of powders, granules and tablets. This unique technology plays a central role by providing a controlled discharge of material without the risk of segregation, bridging or blocking, even for some of the most difficult to handle powders.

Our technology allows us to supply large-scale IBCs up to 3500L, with the reassurance that the product will not segregate and will be fully discharged from the IBC.

Our Tablet IBC System provides gentle handling of tablets in quantities up to 750Kg in one single IBC!  The system is designed to minimize drop height, acceleration and impact of the tablets.

We supply solutions from single IBCs through to complete powder handling systems, covering all process operations from recipe Dispensing through Mixing/Blending, to Compression and Packing.

2. How does MATCON satisfy the requirements of its customers, helping them to enhance their business productivity?

A major advantage of IBCs is the ability to maximise productivity even when accommodating a widening portfolio of recipes.  Total manufacturing flexibility is achieved because the material is blended in the IBC, meaning that recipe changeovers are virtually instantaneous as there is no need to clean down.  In addition, the decoupled nature of the system means that manufacturing flow is optimised and output maximised, providing excellent ROI, keeping OEE rates high on the essential processes of Blending and Compression.

We are committed to achieving total customer satisfaction before, during and after the installation of your Matcon system, therefore, we have implemented organisational changes across our business, providing dedicated After Sales Accounts Managers to support our customers around the world, ensuring we provide an exceptional service at all times.

3. How advantageous is the Matcon IBC Industrial Mixer in terms of cost-effectiveness and time-efficiency?

An increasing challenge with powder blending is how to accommodate an expanding product portfolio against a backdrop of growing demands for productivity and product quality. Traditional fixed mixer methods, such as V Cone Blenders or Ribbon Blenders, suffer from significant amounts of downtime during filling, emptying or cleaning.  By contrast, container-based blending removes the need for cleaning as there is no product contact with the blender.  A Matcon IBC Blending system revolutionises the efficiency and throughput of a production facility as IBCs are filled, discharged and washed ?off-line’ so the Blender can be used batch after batch without stopping.  The Matcon Blender is able to accommodate multiple IBC sizes.  A single blender can blend batches from 50kg to 1400kg. With blenders up to 3500L, we can cater for many different needs. One single blender is able to replace multiple fixed mixers for a more efficient blending process.

4. Can you please tell us, what are the major industry segments that MATCON have been catering globally?

Matcon’s solutions and state-of-the-art Powder Handling Technology can be applied to a wide range of processing industries, significantly improving production capacities and profitability. Our current focus remains with the Pharmaceutical, Food and Chemical industries.

5. Other than existing products, do you have new products in pipeline/under development stage that you can share with our audience?

We continually work on ways to enhance our current equipment operating methods. The introduction of a High Shear Intensifier to the Matcon IBC Blender has expanded the range of blending capabilities to incorporating liquid additions and being able to process cohesive powders. Near-Infrared (NIR) spectroscopy enables Matcon to prove mix homogeneity and identify accurate recipe blend times, without invasive sampling.

6. Please share your experience in showcasing MATCON products at ‘Asia Pharma Expo International Exhibition on the South Asian Pharmaceutical Industry’ held in Bangladesh.

Asia Pharma Expo was a great success for Matcon. The spread of exhibitors was varied this year, with large multinationals sitting alongside local vendors. It was a great mix that worked very well. It is clear from the investments in the show just how seriously people are taking the pharmaceutical industry in Bangladesh.

More attention is being given to export markets with people talking about FDA compliance and regulatory approval as key drivers to investment and positive growth of the pharmaceutical market in Bangladesh.

With our history in the region and proven, track record going back almost 20 years coupled with the benefits of Cone Valve Technology, allows us to increase our presence in OSD whilst benefiting from new opportunities in API that planned initiatives and investment by local companies will bring.
