AbCellera has entered into a collaboration with Vertex Pharmaceuticals to discover, develop, manufacture and commercialise multispecific T-cell engagers (TCEs) for the treatment of autoimmune diseases and other conditions. The partnership combines AbCellera’s antibody discovery platform with Vertex’s development and commercialisation capabilities to advance new therapeutic candidates.

Under the agreement, AbCellera will lead discovery and early-stage development using its proprietary T-cell engager platform. Vertex will fund all research and development activities and will hold the rights to further develop and commercialise any therapeutic multispecific antibodies generated through the collaboration.

AbCellera will receive an upfront payment of US$28 million and will be eligible for additional preclinical, development, regulatory and commercial milestone payments, as well as tiered royalties on future net sales. The companies may also agree for AbCellera to undertake cell line development, process development and Phase 1 clinical manufacturing for selected programmes.

AbCellera’s integrated T-cell engager platform supports the development of multispecific antibodies from discovery through to clinical manufacturing. The platform includes proprietary CD3-binding antibodies, co-stimulatory targeting technologies, multispecific protein engineering capabilities, novel antibody formats and high-throughput functional screening assays, with applications across oncology, autoimmune diseases and other therapeutic areas.
