Capsa Healthcare has introduced RoboPharma, powered by Axona, an integrated automation and enterprise software platform designed to support centralised pharmacy operations, including consolidated service centres, central fill facilities and mail-order pharmacies.

The company said the platform combines RoboPharma’s automation technology with the Axona software platform to manage pharmacy workflows through a single system. According to Capsa Healthcare, the technology is already used to process more than 550,000 prescriptions each day at several large central fill and mail-order operations.

The integrated platform is designed to replace multiple standalone systems by bringing automation, workflow orchestration and compliance management together within a single architecture.

RoboPharma supports a wide range of pharmacy operations, including high-volume prescription filling, unit-of-use dispensing, automated conveyance, vision inspection, packaging, labelling and order sorting. It also enables multi-tenant operations from prescription intake through to shipment.

The platform also supports specialty pharmacy and direct-to-patient fulfilment, including cold-chain products, GLP-1 therapies and unit-of-use packaging.

In addition, Axona provides capabilities for warehouse and enterprise distribution, including receiving, inventory management, order picking and outbound logistics. The system also manages Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) serialisation and traceability within the platform.

For hospitals and clinics, the solution supports inventory management, clinical cart filling, batch preparation, medicine distribution and automated dispensing cabinet replenishment. It also includes tools for order generation, stock management and reducing stock shortages at the point of care.

Capsa Healthcare said the platform has been designed to allow pharmacy operators to expand into additional workflows without requiring separate software platforms or complex system integrations.
