Phylo and Chugai collaborate to deploy AI platform for drug discovery
5 August 2026
Phylo has entered into a collaboration with Chugai Pharmaceutical to deploy Biomni Lab, its agentic AI platform for biomedical research, across Chugai’s drug discovery programmes.
The partnership aims to address challenges in drug discovery caused by fragmented analytical workflows and disconnected research tools, which can slow scientific decision-making and limit the use of biomedical data.
Biomni Lab combines artificial intelligence with hundreds of biomedical resources in a single research environment. The platform will integrate with Chugai’s proprietary research data within its secure infrastructure to support hypothesis generation, data analysis and decision-making throughout the drug discovery process.
Under the collaboration, Biomni Lab will be used across several research areas, including single-cell analysis, human genetics, disease biology and target evaluation. The companies expect the platform to help streamline research workflows, shorten discovery timelines and improve the efficiency of drug development programmes.
The agreement expands the adoption of Biomni Lab among pharmaceutical research organisations. Chugai joins a group of early industry users working with Phylo to evaluate the use of agentic AI in biomedical research and drug discovery.
