Samsung Bioepis and Organon Expand Biosimilar Commercialisation Agreement in Australia

16 July 2026

Samsung Bioepis and Organon have expanded their Development and Commercialisation Agreement to introduce an additional biosimilar product in Australia through Organon ANZ.

Under the revised agreement, Organon will receive exclusive commercial rights to the new biosimilar in Australia, while Samsung Bioepis will continue to manage its development, manufacturing and regulatory activities.

The expanded partnership is intended to increase the availability of biosimilars for patients in Australia and strengthen access to more affordable treatment options. The companies stated that the agreement also supports the long-term sustainability of the country's healthcare system through broader use of biosimilar medicines.

Biosimilars have contributed significant cost savings to Australia's Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). According to an analysis of their financial impact, biosimilars generated approximately A$1.03 billion in PBS savings between 2015 and 2022, with a further A$3.87 billion in savings projected between 2023 and 2027.

The companies said the strengthened collaboration is expected to improve patient access to biosimilars while supporting healthcare professionals with additional treatment options. They also noted that savings generated through wider biosimilar adoption could be redirected towards funding innovative medicines for Australian patients.

The expanded agreement builds on the longstanding partnership between Samsung Bioepis and Organon to increase the availability of biosimilar medicines in global markets.
