Scilex Holding Company Collaborates with ACEA Therapeutics to Broaden ZTlido® Program Access in Key Far East Markets

Scilex Holding Company has announced a Memorandum of Understanding for a collaboration agreement with ACEA, a China-based company focused on innovative treatments for high unmet needs. Under this MOU, ACEA may gain exclusive rights to develop and commercialize ZTlido® in mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau, encompassing both the current formulation and a potential next-generation 3X version, SP-103. This agreement also grants Scilex the opportunity to further expand collaboration with ACEA across its portfolio of non-opioid pain management products in the Greater China region.

ZTlido® is a lidocaine topical system approved for relieving neuropathic pain associated with post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN). It addresses current limitations of lidocaine patches with improved adhesion and continuous pain relief over a 12-hour period. The pain management market is projected to reach US$101.27 billion by 2029, growing at a CAGR of 4.3% from 2022 to 2030. In mainland China alone, the market size was US$17.5 billion in 2022, with an annual growth rate of 5.64%.

ACEA, expressed enthusiasm about the commercial potential of ZTlido® and other Scilex products in Greater China, emphasizing their commitment to expanding patient access to innovative pain management solutions.
