SciRhom Raises EUR 63 Million in Series A Funding to Advance Therapies Targeting iRhom2 for Autoimmune Diseases
10 July 2024
SciRhom GmbH has successfully concluded a EUR 63 million Series A financing round, co-led by Andera Partners, Kurma Partners, Hadean Ventures, MIG Capital, and Wellington Partners. New investor Bayern Kapital and existing investors High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) and PhiFund Ventures from New York also participated. This funding will expedite SciRhom's innovative therapeutic approach aimed at autoimmune disorders.
Founded with a mission to redefine autoimmune disease treatment, SciRhom targets TACE/ADAM17 through iRhom2, collaborating closely with Prof. Carl Blobel and the Hospital for Special Surgery. Their lead candidate, SR-878, a monoclonal antibody, selectively blocks TNF-alpha, IL-6R, and EGFR signaling pathways, aiming to restore immune balance while preserving essential TACE/ADAM17 functions.
SciRhom's strategy is designed to address multiple cytokines and promote immune tolerance, potentially benefiting patients across various autoimmune conditions. With a focus on safety and efficacy, SciRhom has advanced SR-878 to the brink of clinical trials, following promising preclinical results in models of rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease.
SciRhom expressed enthusiasm for this critical phase and acknowledged the support of investors in advancing transformative therapies. The company looks forward to collaborating with both new and existing partners to bring SR-878 to market, offering hope to patients in need of better autoimmune treatments.
