Silence Therapeutics plc, a leading biotechnology company specializing in precision-engineered medicines for treating diseases, has announced a significant milestone in its partnership with Hansoh Pharmaceutical Group Company Limited ("Hansoh"). Following the achievement of a second undisclosed milestone related to their initial target, Silence will receive a $2.0 million cash payment from Hansoh.

Silence, emphasized the importance of this milestone, stating, "This represents a crucial advancement in moving our program towards clinical stages with Hansoh. It's an exciting time for Silence and our mRNAi GOLD™ platform as we expand our pipeline targeting a range of genetic diseases."

Silence and Hansoh began their collaboration in October 2021 to develop siRNAs using Silence's proprietary mRNAi GOLD™ platform for three undisclosed targets. Under the agreement, Silence holds exclusive global rights to the first two targets, except for the China region. Hansoh has the exclusive option to license rights to these targets in Greater China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, and global rights to the third target.

Hansoh made an upfront payment of $16 million to Silence, with potential additional payments totaling up to $1.3 billion tied to development, regulatory, and commercial milestones. Silence is also eligible to receive royalties on net product sales by Hansoh, ranging from low double-digit to mid-teens percentages. This recent announcement marks the fourth research milestone payment achieved under their collaboration.
