TRexBio and Lilly Partner in Phase 1 Trial of TRB-051 for Autoimmune and Inflammatory Diseases
27 June 2024
TRex Bio, Inc., a biotechnology company focused on deciphering human tissue immune biology to create innovative therapeutics, has announced a significant milestone. Its partner, Eli Lilly and Company, has initiated a Phase 1 first-in-human study of TRB-051. This compound aims to modulate immune effector cells for the treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, marking one of three programs under their collaborative agreement. TRexBio utilizes its proprietary Deep Biology platform to identify and develop novel therapies for immune-mediated diseases.
Under this partnership, TRexBio has received a substantial milestone payment and stands to earn over $1.1 billion upon achieving specified development, regulatory, and commercial milestones across partnered programs. Additionally, TRexBio is eligible for tiered royalties on product sales.
Alison Budelsky, Ph.D., Vice President of Immunology Research at Lilly, expressed optimism about TRB-051's potential to provide durable clinical benefits to patients facing immune system dysregulation. Melanie Kleinschek, DVM, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer of TRexBio, underscored the significance of this milestone with Lilly, highlighting their Deep Biology platform's role in advancing their collaborative and proprietary pipeline. This includes TRB-061, a TNF receptor 2 (TNFR2) agonist designed to enhance Tregs at inflammation sites, slated to enter clinical trials in early 2025.
