A Stellar Innovation for High-Performance Displays
Corning Astra Glass is a precisely engineered glass substrate enabling higher pixel density for the high-performance displays that panel-makers require to meet consumer demand for brighter, faster, and more lifelike images. Featuring an optimum blend of low total pitch variation (TPV), low total thickness variation (TTV), and low sag, Astra Glass is thermally and dimensionally stable enough to thrive in a broad range of processing temperatures, including oxide thin film transistor (TFT) backplane manufacturing processes.
Manufactured using Corning’s proprietary fusion process, Corning Astra Glass has the inherent fidelity to endure the high-temperature requirements for the design of mid-to-large-size, immersive displays in high-performance tablets, notebooks, and 8K TVs. To create these devices, panel-makers must build more and more pixels onto their panels to achieve higher resolution.
Astra Glass enables a range of high-performance panels and precision glass — from the top end of the a-Si space into IGZO oxide and through low temperature poly-silicon (LTPS). Astra Glass is the newest addition to the Corning Display portfolio, and today supports high-resolution, premium panels for the world's leading panel-makers, including being chosen for CCPD's Oxide-LCD line.
