Freeze-Drying
Freeze-Drying
Innovative solutions to improve lyophilisation processes
Depending on your individual needs and challenges in the freeze-drying process, our gas application technologies can contribute strongly to your business success.
VERISEQ® nucleation
Improved lyophilisation through controlled nucleation.
VERISEQ® nucleation is an innovative and advanced technology that controls the nucleation step during the freeze-drying process. It ensures reliable and prompt top-down nucleation of the vial-contained pharmaceutical formulation at an optimal temperature, offering many advantages over natural, random nucleation.
Key advantages of VERISEQ® nucleation vs. conventional lyophilisation
- Reduced vial-to-vial variance leading to increased batch uniformity
- Shortened primary drying time and reduced overall cycle time
- Reduced reconstitution time
- Reduced scale-up inaccuracies
- Improved cake appearance
- Reduced water vapour resistance due to increased ice crystal size
Cryogenic cooling with CUMULUS® LF
Improved economics, reliability and performance for pharmaceutical freeze drying
CUMULUS LF is an innovative cryogenic cooling technology for lyophilisers. Our application uses liquid nitrogen as the cooling agent to overcome the performance and environmental limitations of conventional mechanical systems. CUMULUS® LF offers better performance, higher reliability and lower cost of ownership than conventional compressor refrigeration systems.
Key advantages of CUMULUS® LF
- Increased cooling performance vs. conventional mechanical refrigeration systems:
- Faster cooling rates with near-linear cooling even at temperatures below - 30°C
- Significantly lower shelf temperatures can be achieved (down to -65°C)
- Precise temperature control
- Increased reliability and low maintenance due to simplicity of the design and absence of moving parts
- Independent cooling of freeze-dryer shelves and ice condenser
- Mid- and large-scale systems require significantly smaller equipment footprint
- Very low noise levels
- Environmentally friendly with zero emissions
- Low capital investment required
