CordenPharma is embarking on an ambitious expansion plan to propel its Peptide Platform business beyond the €1 billion sales milestone by 2028, further solidifying its position as a market leader in the integrated supply of services ranging from APIs to Drug Products for both Injectable and Oral Peptides.

As part of this strategic growth, the company has finalized plans to build a cutting-edge peptide manufacturing facility in Switzerland, located at Getec Park in Muttenz—just 8 km from Basel, a key biotech and pharma hub in Europe.

With an investment exceeding €500 million, this state-of-the-art facility will house multiple manufacturing lines designed to support peptide production at small, medium, and large scales. It will feature Solid Phase Peptide Synthesis (SPPS) reactors for both GLP-1 and non-GLP-1 peptide projects, with a total SPPS reactor capacity exceeding 5,000 L.

The facility will incorporate advanced automation, digitalization, and innovative peptide production technologies to meet the highest regulatory standards, including BLA requirements. The main construction and qualification phases will take place from 2025 to 2027, with commercial operations set to begin in the first half of 2028. This expansion is expected to create over 300 new jobs, driving economic growth and innovation in the region.

Simultaneously, CordenPharma is also expanding its Boulder, Colorado facility in the U.S., with ongoing enhancements to existing production lines and the construction of a new greenfield manufacturing area. This expansion will more than double the site’s SPPS reactor capacity by adding 25,000 L, bringing the total to over 42,000 L by 2028.

In total, CordenPharma is making a record investment of over €1 billion over the next three years to build and expand peptide manufacturing facilities across Europe and the U.S. This includes the €500 million investment in Switzerland to establish a greenfield site for small to large-scale peptide development and manufacturing in the Basel region.
