Bayer Partners with Iambic to Advance AI-Driven Drug Discovery
23 June 2026
Bayer has entered into a drug discovery collaboration with Iambic Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biotechnology company that develops medicines using artificial intelligence. The partnership will focus on the discovery of small-molecule therapies.
Under the agreement, Bayer will use Iambic’s AI-powered drug discovery platform, including its Enchant and NeuralPLexer technologies, to identify novel drug targets and develop differentiated molecules for diseases that have traditionally been difficult to treat. The collaboration is intended to support and strengthen Bayer’s early-stage research pipeline.
The partnership reflects the growing use of artificial intelligence in pharmaceutical research, where companies are seeking to improve the efficiency of drug discovery and accelerate the development of new therapies. By combining Bayer’s drug development expertise with Iambic’s AI capabilities, the companies aim to enhance scientific insights and improve decision-making throughout the research and development process.
Traditional drug discovery can take more than a decade and requires significant investment, while many drug candidates fail during clinical development. Through AI-based molecular optimisation, the collaboration aims to identify promising hit molecules more efficiently, shorten optimisation timelines and support the development of future medicines.
Under the terms of the agreement, Iambic will receive an upfront payment and will be eligible for additional milestone and royalty payments linked to the progress and commercial success of any resulting products.
