Chai Discovery Signs Licensing Agreement with Pfizer to Advance AI-Driven Drug Discovery

5 June 2026

Chai Discovery has entered into a licensing agreement with Pfizer to support the use of artificial intelligence in drug discovery and accelerate the development of new medicines.

Under the agreement, Pfizer will integrate Chai Discovery’s AI platform into its drug discovery operations. The partnership provides Pfizer with early access to Chai-3, the company’s latest AI model, as well as a customised model built using Pfizer’s proprietary data and designed to fit its research workflows.

Chai Discovery develops generative AI software capable of predicting and redesigning molecular interactions. The technology helps scientists create biomolecules with specific functional properties and aims to shorten the time required for early-stage drug discovery.

The company’s AI models are designed to support the identification of new biomolecules, address difficult drug targets and reduce discovery timelines from months or years to much shorter development cycles.

As part of the agreement, Pfizer will become one of the first pharmaceutical companies to gain access to Chai-3. The new model is designed to improve AI-driven antibody discovery, delivering higher success rates than its predecessor and generating antibodies that meet therapeutic development requirements.

Chai-3 also enhances capabilities in therapeutic binding, multispecific antibody design, targeting difficult-to-drug molecules and improving model performance across a wider range of applications.

The model builds on Chai-2, released in 2025, which enabled zero-shot antibody design and achieved significantly higher experimental success rates than previous computational methods. The platform helped reduce discovery timelines from several months to a matter of weeks.

The agreement highlights the growing adoption of advanced AI technologies by major pharmaceutical companies as the industry increasingly applies AI tools to real-world drug discovery programmes.
