Enveda Biosciences, a biotechnology firm that uses artificial intelligence to develop new medicines from natural sources, has raised $55 million in its latest funding round, adding to the $119 million previously secured in Series B and B1 rounds. This round attracted new investors such as Premji Invest, Lingotto Investment Fund, Microsoft, and The Nature Conservancy, in addition to ongoing support from investors like Kinnevik, True Ventures, FPV, Level Ventures, and Jazz Venture Partners.
Enveda is pioneering advancements in drug discovery through its proprietary AI-powered platform, which addresses long-standing challenges in the field. This technology facilitates the discovery of active molecules, optimizes their properties and structures, evaluates their suitability for medicinal chemistry, and ensures large-scale material access.
The fresh funding will be crucial for further developing Enveda’s groundbreaking platform. Recently, the company identified its sixth candidate for New Chemical Entity (NCE) Development. Enveda is also progressing its top three therapeutic programs through Phase I clinical trials, with plans to initiate clinical trials for these treatments in late 2024 and early 2025. One of the leading projects is an innovative oral anti-inflammatory treatment for atopic dermatitis, which has demonstrated significant efficacy and safety in preclinical studies. Additionally, another first-in-class anti-inflammatory therapy aims to inhibit multiple cytokine signaling pathways in the gut, showing promising results in models of inflammatory bowel disease.
