Evonik Partners with evitria to Support Faster Early Biologics Development
15 July 2026
Evonik has entered into a partnership with evitria to provide a ready-to-use transient protein expression kit based on Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells, helping biopharmaceutical researchers accelerate early-stage biologics development.
The collaboration expands Evonik's precision biosolutions portfolio by combining its biopharma expertise with evitria's capabilities in CHO-based protein expression. The new eviCHO Expression Kit, based on CHO-K1 cells, is designed to simplify transient protein expression by offering ready-to-use components and validated protocols for faster and more consistent protein production.
Transient protein expression is widely used in early-stage biologics research to rapidly produce proteins, including antibodies, without the need to establish stable cell lines. The new kit helps reduce workflow complexity, minimise troubleshooting and improve laboratory efficiency, enabling researchers to speed up the development of new biologic candidates.
Based in Zurich, Switzerland, evitria specialises in CHO-based transient antibody expression. The company has completed more than 125,000 transfections and successfully expressed and purified over 25,000 antibodies and antibody-based molecules. Its customers include academic institutions, biotechnology companies and major biopharmaceutical organisations across the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia.
The partnership supports Evonik's strategy to expand its Advanced Precision Biosolutions business and strengthen its offering for biomanufacturing. It follows the company's 2025 collaboration with InVitria to add recombinant human serum albumin (rHSA) to its portfolio.
With more than six decades of experience, Evonik continues to provide a range of chemically defined, non-animal-derived ingredients, including amino acids, dipeptides, lipids and surfactants, to support the next generation of biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
