Jazz Pharmaceuticals and AbCellera have entered into a preclinical research collaboration, option and licence agreement to discover and develop next-generation T-cell engaging (TCE) multispecific antibodies for gastrointestinal (GI) cancers and other solid tumours.

The partnership will combine AbCellera’s antibody discovery platform with Jazz Pharmaceuticals’ oncology expertise to identify and advance potential new cancer therapies. The collaboration aims to generate optimised development candidates that could address difficult-to-treat GI cancers and a broader range of solid tumours.

AbCellera’s T-cell engager platform provides integrated capabilities covering antibody discovery through to clinical manufacturing. The platform includes proprietary CD3-binding antibodies, co-stimulatory targeting technologies, multispecific protein engineering tools and high-throughput functional screening assays designed to support the development of advanced multispecific TCE therapies.

The companies stated that the collaboration supports efforts to expand treatment options for patients with GI cancers and other solid tumours. T-cell engaging antibodies are designed to direct the immune system to recognise and attack cancer cells, offering a targeted approach to cancer treatment.

Through the agreement, the partners will work to advance novel multispecific antibody candidates towards clinical development, with the goal of improving outcomes for patients with cancers that currently have limited treatment options.
