Nanostics Receives Provisional CPSA Accreditation for its Clinical Laboratory

8 September 2023

Nanostics Inc., a precision health company specializing in diagnostic tests developed with its ClarityDX® platform technology, has announced that the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) has granted provisional accreditation to Nanostics Clinical Laboratory in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This significant milestone allows Nanostics' Clinical Laboratory, under the leadership of Medical Laboratory Director Dr. Todd McMullen, to begin offering the ClarityDX Prostate® test to patients.

John Lewis, CEO of Nanostics, expressed excitement about the CPSA accreditation, emphasizing its importance in enabling the company to provide their test from their new clinical lab in Edmonton. He noted that this development represents a major step toward ensuring that men dealing with prostate cancer have access to advanced diagnostic tools for managing this disease.

The ClarityDX Prostate® test has been validated in men from five clinical sites across Canada, the United States, and Czechia. It is a straightforward and rapid test designed to accurately predict the risk of clinically significant prostate cancer. The test is intended for men with elevated levels of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and aims to assist physicians and patients in making more informed decisions regarding whether to proceed with a biopsy.

The CPSA plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and quality of medical and diagnostic testing services in Alberta through its independent accreditation program. Any laboratory in Alberta that conducts and reports diagnostic tests for guiding patient care must obtain CPSA accreditation. This process involves rigorous assessments based on Quality Management Systems, which are recognized by international healthcare external evaluation organizations.

Todd McMullen, Medical Laboratory Director of Nanostics, highlighted the company's dedication to exceptional operational standards and a strong commitment to quality performance. He believes that CPSA accreditation underscores their commitment to quality and provides patients with the confidence to trust their services.
