Dualitas Therapeutics has announced a research collaboration and licence agreement with Roche to discover and develop novel bispecific antibody (BsAb) therapies for immunology and inflammation (I&I) diseases.

The DualScreen™ platform is designed to support high-throughput discovery of bispecific antibodies based on proximity biology. Unlike conventional approaches that typically begin with selected target pairs, the platform evaluates a broad range of targets and epitopes across cell surfaces.

The technology enables the screening of hundreds of thousands of bispecific combinations to identify interactions that may produce synergistic biological activity. Selected candidates can then be further optimised for development as potential therapies.

Under the collaboration, Dualitas will use its DualScreen™ Bispecific Discovery Engine to functionally screen more than 300,000 bispecific antibody combinations. The programme aims to identify novel antibody combinations that could produce enhanced therapeutic effects through proximity biology.

Dualitas will receive an upfront payment of US$36.5 million. The company is also eligible for additional research, development and commercial milestone payments, which could bring the total value of the agreement to up to US$1 billion. The agreement also includes tiered royalties.

Roche will be responsible for subsequent preclinical development, regulatory activities, manufacturing and commercialisation of the selected candidates.

The collaboration expands the use of Dualitas' proximity biology platform while Roche will lead the later stages of development and commercialisation. Dualitas will also continue advancing its internal pipeline of proximity engager bispecific antibodies for I&I diseases.
