Nickel test

Nickel test

The nickel allergy is a contact allergy. Skin symptoms are triggered in people allergic to nickel if the skin comes into direct contact with objects containing nickel for a long period of time. The prerequisite is that the object releases nickel on its surface. Many metallic everyday objects can contain nickel and come into contact with skin, such as jewellery, watches, spectacle frames, metal buttons, zippers, scissors, cutlery and coins.
In order to contain nickel allergy, the legislator has set nickel limit values for objects containing nickel that are intended to come into intensive contact with the skin over a long period of time (jewellery, spectacle frames, etc.) or are inserted into parts of the body (piercings, ear piercings).
