Deep Cleaning

What is a deep clean?

Media attention throughout 2020, using the term deep cleaning in a variety of ways, has led to a degree of confusion about the term “deep clean”. A classic deep clean uses a variety of steps and materials, to effect both a thorough physical cleanliness of surfaces, with special attention to disinfection of high touch or “risk” surfaces, all with appropriate, professional grade cleaning chemicals and PPE.

The basic methods vary slightly between laboratory settings, medical environments, teaching settings and commercial environments. However, the overall steps remain the same.

Assessment, HEPA vacuum, clean/disinfect and test

Professional assessment of the reason that a deep clean is needed is a crucial first step. This allows the refinement of cleaning methods, appropriate chemical selection and application methods. Once the approaches and appropriate safety documentation is in place, a general HEPA vacuum step is used to safely remove potentially contaminated particulates. Physical cleaning of surfaces proceeds next, to allow a clean enough surface that disinfectants can be applied to – so that they are effective. The appropriate disinfectants, at the right concentrations, are applied, and left to the contact time required to do their work. Finally, a site specific testing process is conducted to verify the effectiveness of the cleaning.

Our staff are well trained and experienced in the appropriate requirements for your facility type and responsibly dispose of waste materials post deep clean.
