ASTRIX Capsules and Tablets

ASTRIX^® is a low dose form of aspirin that is designed to prevent blood platelets from sticking together and to help reduce the chance of a blood clot forming. These blood clots could block an artery and therefore reduce or stop blood flow. ASTRIX^® helps to keep your blood flowing freely and reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke in patients with known cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disease.

ASTRIX^® capsules are the only enteric-coated pelletized form of low-dose aspirin on the market in Australia. Their enteric coat prevents aspirin from being released until the pellets reach the small intestine, thereby reducing the risk of stomach irritation that may be experienced with longer term use of immediate release aspirin.

There are 3 pack sizes available in Australia, 28, 84 and 140 capsules. The 84 capsule pack is listed on the Repatriation Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (RPBS) in Australia.
