Class II Type B2 biological safety cabinet cabinets are chosen specifically for their ability to supplement biological containment with a degree of protection from chemical vapors. The NU-565 provides proven protection from both hazards by complying not only with the biosafety cabinet requirements of NSF/ANSI 49 but also with the fume hood requirements of both UL 1805 and ASHRAE 110. This biosafety cabinet is further adapted for such applications by using a UL 586 fire retardant exhaust HEPA filter and placing both its outlets and service valve controls safely outside the work zone. The downflow motor is interlocked with external exhaust by not only a mechanical pressure switch but also a differential velocity pressure flow grid to minimize the risk of it blowing air out of the cabinet should the exhaust fail. A touch screen displays the readings from both this exhaust flow grid and a work area downflow sensor at all times for the operator.
