A step-change in progesterone API synthesis
Enviero’s green chemistry represents a step-change in progesterone processing efficiency and sustainability. By eliminating metal catalysts and the majority of the organic solvents, environmentally damaging waste emissions have been reduced by more than 70 percent.
Reliable, commercial supply from a proven process
Offering a more resource and energy friendly approach to the process than initially developed in the 1940s, Enviero progesterone is manufactured in the U.S. via a proven biocatalytic process based on plant phytosterols and authorized for pharmaceutical use in North America and the European Union.
Using advanced chemistry developed over a decade, Enviero progesterone is the first API launched from Pfizer CentreOne’s green chemistry program. More than 500 metric tons of Enviero progesterone have been manufactured to date, with products containing the API now marketed in the U.S., Austria, Italy, Germany and France.
