While influenza viruses (A, B or C) are responsible for the flu, the common cold is caused by a wide variety of viruses, such as rhinoviruses, enteroviruses or corona viruses, and also by bacteria. Differential diagnostic indications for a flu-like infection can be, for example, the slow deterioration at the onset of the disease, low fever and only slight headache and body aches. Overall, the course of the disease is less dramatic and usually much shorter than with influenza. If the disease progresses normally, the following symptoms occur: runny nose, sore throat, difficulty swallowing, cough, headache, body aches and fever.
