Introduction:

AbbVie boosted its manufacturing capabilities on Thursday by starting construction on a new US$223 million (S$301 million) expansion of its Singapore manufacturing facility.

Features:

This new investment will add 24,000 litres of biologics drug-substance capacity to AbbVie’s global manufacturing network, supporting both current products and emerging immunology and oncology compounds in AbbVie’s pipeline.

The expanded Singapore facility AbbVie’s only manufacturing site in Asia will employ over 500 people in roles such as manufacturing, quality assurance, supply chain, engineering, and administration.

The expansion of the Singapore site will enhance our global manufacturing capabilities, support our growing biologics pipeline, and ensure AbbVie continues to meet its commitments to patients now and into the future. Construction on the expansion is set to begin later this year, with operations expected to start in 2026.
