Introduction:

Axplora is expanding its Farmabios facility in Gropello Cairoli, Italy, with a new €35 million investment. This forms part of a broader strategy to boost production capabilities and support future growth. Combined with €45 million already invested since 2020, the total recent investment at the site now exceeds €80 million.

Features:

The latest phase of development will add 62,000 square metres of new space, increasing the total footprint of the site to 108,000 square metres.
 
Recent improvements at the site include a new micronisation department, enhanced warehouse capacity, and the introduction of RS40—a modern unit designed specifically for the handling of High Potent APIs (HPAPIs). 

RS40 meets high global standards for safety and containment, with strict zoning to separate potent operations and fully enclosed process areas to avoid cross-contamination. 

It supports occupational exposure limits as low as 10 nanograms per cubic metre and meets OEB5 criteria.

In addition to infrastructure, the workforce at Farmabios has grown significantly. 

Axplora’s continued investment in Farmabios highlights its focus on innovation, operational excellence, and sustainable pharmaceutical manufacturing.

The expansion of this project is expected to be completed by 2026.
