Wirsam Scientific was established in 1968 by Non-Executive Director Peter Wirsam. Throughout its proud history, Wirsam has entrenched itself as one of the continents leading suppliers of laboratory instrumentation.

The company is categorised into Microscopy, Analytical, Material Testing, Petrochemical Sample Preparation, Analytical X-Ray, Material Testing and General Laboratory Instrumentation divisions. To complement the holistic product range, Wirsam has fully equipped workshops providing complete sales and service capabilities via the head office (Johannesburg) and across South Africa’s major business centres (Cape Town, Durban and Vanderbijlpark).

Wirsam’s success comes from an excellent relationship with its principal suppliers who are all world leading manufacturers within their sectors. The company has over the years gained these manufacturers confidence and respect, thereby allowing Wirsam to trade locally as an extension of their international network. ISO 9001 – Quality Policy

Wirsam Scientific is still committed to ISO9001 systems and procedures, but after numerous failures by SABS and the accreditation bodies, we have made the decision to no longer continue with the certification.

We are committed to continuing and to maintain our quaity management system internally but will not have it certified. Please note that all of our suppliers are ISO9001 certified!

We also believe that not having the ISO9001 certification, will in no way affect the quality of our service and sales offering, and we will continue to strive towards excellence as we have done for over the past 50 years.
