Introduction :

Merck Serono the biopharmaceutical division of Merck, Headquartered in Germany, announced groundbreaking of new Pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Nantong with an investment of € 80 million.The construction of the site is scheduled to be completed in 2016. Commercial production will begin in 2017.

Features :

The new facility will spread across 40,000 square meters, and probably 20,000 square meters extension. The facility  will focus on the bulk production and packaging of Glucophage®, Concor® and Euthyrox® used in the treatment of diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and thyroid disorders, respectively.

Plant is designed to meet international standards especially with respect to quality, environment, health and safety.
