LASER MARKING

LASER MARKING

Laser marking and/or laser etching is the use of a laser to make a permanent mark on the surface of a material. The mark is usually made either through discoloration of the surface (e.g., ablation) or displacement of material (e.g., engraving). By removing layers from the surface of the top layer of the material, the laser acts as a blade by using between 10 to 100 watts with fiber lasers as well as diode laser engravers. These permanent marks are used in manufacturing for part identification, traceability, serial codes, logos, and more.
