Protect your customers and staff

Your holding water tank should be cleaned and disinfected at least once a year to ensure the water meets health and safety guidelines and is safe for human consumption. Dirty tanks are breeding grounds for bacteria and disease, and in Ireland, this increases the risk of Legionnaires disease, which can be life threatening.

Our service to you

  • We clean the outside of your tank
  • We remove any heavy and wet debris inside the tank
  • We clean the floor and walls of your tank
  • We disinfect the interior of the tank

What is LegionnairesDisease?

Legionnairesdisease is a severe and potentially fatal form of pneumonia that is caused by the legionella bacteria commonly found in water.  Anyone can develop Legionnairesdisease, but the elderly, smokers, alcoholics and those with cancer, diabetes or chronic respiratory or kidney disease are at more risk.

The bacterium thrive in stagnant water and at temperatures between 20 and 45°C. The HSE provides guidelines on how to manage your hot- and cold-water systems to prevent Legionnaires. In these guidelines it stipulates that employers must carry out a written risk assessment for LegionnairesDisease, including identifying prevention and control measures and be in a position to provide the Health and Safety Authority with this information if requested to do so.

As part of our service, our experienced team conducts a full risk assessment and provides you with a written report.

The HSEs Legionnairesdisease page provides information on managing the risks. For a highly detailed outline of your responsibilities, you can download the HSE National Guidelines for the Control of Legionellosis in Ireland here in our Useful Guides section.
