TIAB ® – a compound of silver ions and titanium dioxide
Thanks to the stabilization of silver ions (binding to titanium dioxide), silver ions have a high antimicrobial activity.
Silver ions bind to the proteins of the external structures of the bacterium, disrupt the function of the bacterial wall, and thus get inside the cell, where they bind to, for example, its DNA, disrupting further transmission of genetic information and thereby devaluing the cell. It also reacts with yeast in a similar way.
When it comes to viruses, it also binds to proteins, or to viral DNA or RNA depending on the type of virus. It can thus prevent, for example, the binding of the virus to another healthy cell and thus limits its spread.
