Biosafety laminar flow cabinets

NuAire biosafety laminar flow cabinets provide personnel, product, and/or environmental protection when looking to obtain optimum control over product quality while reducing the potential for exposure. Ergonomically designed NuAire bench top laminar cabinets will help you to improve accuracy of laboratory safety methods and processes. It is recommended to identify the biological safety level of each laboratory method, piece of equipment and engineering process. For easier control of infectious agents, four biological safety levels have been defined.

The Class I biological safety cabinet provides personnel and environmental protection, but no product protection. It is similar in air movement to a chemical fume hood, but usually has a limited fixed work access opening and the exhaust air must be HEPA filtered, to protect the environment. The Class I biological safety cabinets are designed for general microbiological research with low and moderate-risk agents.  In addition, the work zone, which is typically much smaller than a chemical fume hood, is geared to working with biologicals, whose process dictates the use of moderate amounts of volatile liquids, that are not suitable for recirculating cabinets.

Selecting a Class II biological safety cabinet requires considering multiple factors including, among others, the materials, quantity, and procedures being performed within the cabinet, the facility requirements based on risk assessments, the location of the cabinet within the laboratory itself, the installation requirements of the cabinet, and the mechanical systems exhaust/supply to both the laboratory and the cabinet. There are three types of NuAire Class II biological safety cabinets: A2, B1, B2.
