Pharmacological properties
A source of calcium ions, which plays an important role in the contraction of skeletal and smooth muscles, the activity of the heart muscle, the transmission of nerve impulses, the formation of bone tissue, the regulation of vascular wall permeability, blood clotting. Has anti-allergic action. The mechanism of anti-allergic action is unknown, however, with intravenous administration of calcium salts, it excites the sympathetic nervous system and increases the release of adrenaline by the adrenal glands.
Indications for use
With allergic diseases (serum sickness, urticaria, angioedema, hay fever, etc.) and allergic complications associated with taking medications, with increased excretion of calcium from the body, which can occur with prolonged immobilization of the patient, pregnancy; as a means of reducing vascular permeability, with hemorrhagic vasculitis, radiation sickness phenomena, with inflammatory and exudative processes (pneumonia, pleurisy, plexitis, endometritis, etc.); skin diseases (itching, eczema, psoriasis, etc.), with insufficient function of the parathyroid glands (tetany), rickets (spasmophilia); with parenchymal hepatitis, toxic liver damage, nephritis, eclampsia, hyperkalemic form of paroxysmal myoplegia.
