Pharmacotherapeutic group: antifungal agent for external use.
Content
1 g of gel contains 10 mg of undecylenacid monoethanolamide.
Therapeutic indications
Dermatomycoses (fungal diseases of the skin).
Action
The active substance of the gel - undecylenacid monoethanolamide - has a combined fungicidal and surfactant properties. Due to this and lyphophylic character of the active substance, in the presence of propylene glycol the active substance affects pathogenic microflora, which is located in the skin upper layers, and also penetrates into deeper affected skin layers. Gel has a fungicidal effect on the following fungal cultures:
- Epidermophyton species
- Candida albicans
- Microsporum canis
- Trichophyton rubrum
Undecylenacid monoethanolamide damages cell cytoplasmatic membranes of pathogenic fungi, changing their permeability and conditions necessary for cell existence, and the active substance affects synthesis of ergosterine in fungal cells.
Doses and mode of administration
Small amount of the gel (1 to 2 g) should be applied on the areas affected by dermatomycosis in mornings and evenings by gentle rubbing of the gel into the skin. Duration of the treatment course is 2 to 4 weeks.
