Why are liquid formulation often preferred? 

For most biopharmaceuticals, the development of a liquid formulation is desired, if it proves to be sufficiently stable throughout the desired shelf-life. This is because liquid formulations are generally fast and cost-effective during production and the final purification step can be designed to deliver a drug substance that closely resembles the properties of the final drug product. Also, liquid formulations are easy to handle for hospital personnel but particularly for patients performing self-application. Further, liquid samples allow a flexible dosing during preclinical and clinical trial studies.
